With soft materials (pompoms, erasers, etc.), see what lever design can propel the object furthest.
Maxfield makes plans for the mouse carnival rides, including a splash pool, water slide, rafts, merry-go-round, and Ferris wheel.
Discuss: How are simple machines used in carnival rides?
Student activity: Students work together to plan a carnival, and identify the machines. Choose one ride to design and make.
